I have a newish laptop that has a broken zif socket for the
mouse/trackpad side of things, here are 4 link to images i have taken
and upload for you to look at to get some idea of the problem.

The socket is not the kind like keyboard ZIF sockets that have a latch,
this is the ones that you just feed the cable into, you can see the
white/cream of the socket has broken on one side and hence will not take
the black bit of plastic.
Now i don't have the tools here to do solder work as my soldering iron
is too big but i'm happy to do the solder work if advice can be given on
wattage to use and solder etc, however i would prefer to find another
kind of fix, I'm open to offers on what to do (apart from next time
don't be so heavy handed) the laptop in question is a HP Pavilion
15-N297SA, anyone have any experience of dealing with HP and do they
help customers much or are they not very helpfull?
If you need anything else from me just ask
